
WalletHub ranks best small cities for starting a business
Fourteen Tennessee cities ranked with highest rated was Spring Hill at #98.
Three of the top five best small cities in which to start a business are located in Utah, according to a recent report from personal financial website WalletHub. They are St. George (#1), Cedar Hill (#3), and Washington (#4). Fort Meyers, FL, placed #4, and Bozeman, MT, was ranked #5. Greenville, SC cracked the top 10 at #9.
The highest ranked Tennessee city was Spring Hill at #98 followed by Jackson (#135), Gallatin (#329), La Vergne (#330), Cookeville (#492), Lebanon (#496), Johnson City (#562), Oak Ridge (#607), Morristown(#684), Hendersonville (#710), Kingsport (#815), Cleveland (#838), Germantown (#1037), and Bartlett (#1152).
In order to determine the best small cities in which to start a business, WalletHub compared 1,334 cities across three key dimensions:
- Business Environment;
- Access to Resources; and
- Business Costs.
For the sample, we chose cities with a population of between 25,000 and 100,000 residents. “City” refers to the city proper and excludes the surrounding metro area.
