UT, Knoxville earns two recognitions just before Valentine’s Day

The University has been named a top producer of Fulbright students for the sixth consecutive year and as as one of America’s best large employers for the third year.

The day before Valentine’s Day brought a lot of “lovely” news to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK).

  • The University has been named a top producer of Fulbright students for the sixth consecutive year, ranking second among Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools. Thirteen students and recent graduates received awards for the 2023-24 academic year. Each year, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces the top-producing institutions for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the federal government’s flagship international educational exchange program. The Chronicle of Higher Education published the latest list on February 13.
  • And for the third consecutive year, UTK has been ranked by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers. The University is one of four SEC universities to be recognized on the 2024 list, also announced the same day.

About the Fulbright ranking, Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor John Zomchick said, “It is an incredible honor to be named a top producer of Fulbright students again this year. This designation represents UT’s commitment to global engagement and academic excellence. We are rightfully proud of the Volunteers who explore, connect and share ideas around the globe.”

Regarding the Forbes ranking, Tarah Keeler, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, said, “To receive this acknowledgment again is an honor. This recognition reaffirms our tremendous dedication to creating an environment where every faculty and staff member feels valued, supported and inspired to thrive. We continue to look for ways to make our university a rewarding and welcoming environment for our employees to call home.”
