It’s time for “Demo Days” across Tennessee
Well, it’s heating-up which surely means that an emerging summer ritual in Tennessee is rapidly approaching.
Yes, we’re talking about “Demo Days,” those sessions when entrepreneurs participating in the many accelerators across the state make their final presentations as program participants. It’s important that residents in these communities come out in force to support the entrepreneurs.
We’ve posted separate articles about the events, but we thought a consolidated version might make sense.
First out of the box is “GIGTANK Demo Day,” set for next Tuesday at Girls Preparatory School, 205 Island Avenue, Chattanooga. Over the past week, we have profiled four of this year’s “GIGTANK” participants. In an earlier post on teknovation.biz, we summarized the plans for the all-day event that kicks-off at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m. To register, click here. On July 31 and August 12 and 13, the autoXLR8R takes an innovative approach to “Demo Days,” hosting three separate “Roads Shows” in Kingsport, Spring Hill and Oak Ridge respectively. We published details of those events yesterday.
The Knoxville Entrepreneur Center’s “MediaWorks Demo Day” is set for 4 p.m. August 5 at the Square Room on Market Square in Knoxville. We have also posted information about this event that will be keynoted by Susan Packard.
Other events scheduled through late August include:
- August 14 – “ZeroTo510 Demo Day” in Memphis. This is the medical device accelerator.
- August 21 – Start Co’s “Demo Day” from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis will feature 18 teams from four separate accelerators – Seed hatchery, Upstart, SparkGap and Sky High.
- August 21 – Jumpstart Foundry’s “Demo Day” from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall in Nashville.
Here’s a list of the presenting companies (2014 Summer Cohort Overview).
