Three Tennessee start-ups among 16 finalists for inaugural Sloss.Tech/Ideas Pitch Competition

The event with $75,000 up for grabs is next week in Birmingham, AL.

Three Tennessee-based start-ups are among 16 finalists selected to compete in the inaugural Sloss.Tech/Ideas Pitch Competition funded by a grant from the Regions Foundation.

Scheduled for June 25 at the Lyric Theatre in Birmingham, the companies are competing for a $50,000 grand prize for best overall, a $10,000 People’s Choice Award prize, and three $5,000 category winner prizes. The pitch competition is on the first day of the three-day conference.

The three Tennessee start-ups are:

  1. Giggs, a company launched by Nikki Sanz in Nashville, is the career platform for the live event industry. The start-up connects vetted backstage professionals with top companies and builds a community through jobs, mentorship, events, and industry-focused media. We spotlighted Giggs in this October 2024 teknovation.biz article. The company is competing in the Emerging Tech category.
  2. Hera Health Solutions of Memphis is a nanotechnology company developing a biodegradable drug delivery platform to turn existing drugs into long-acting formats—improving adherence, efficacy, and patient outcomes. Hera Health is competing in the HealthTech category.
  3. Limber Robotics, also Memphis-based, is developing an automated solution for the most hated jobs requiring both mobility and manipulation in warehouses and fulfillment centers. It is competing in the Mobility Tech category.

A full list of the 16 finalists can be found here. The event is hosted by Innovate Alabama.
