Five “Innovation Crossroads” start-ups are in Denver for a pitch event
Part of Cohort 2022 of the program, they will join 16 other entrepreneurs for the "Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP) Demo Day."
Five of the start-ups from Cohort 2022 of the “Innovation Crossroads” program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory will be among 21 presenting on May 1 at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) “Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP) Demo Day” in Denver. They are:
- Agriwater Corporation, founded by Bianca Bailey, and developing an innovative mobile wastewater treatment system to purify livestock manure into clean water.
- Ateios Systems, founded by Rajan Kumar that is developing innovative coating and processing technologies necessary to scale solid-state batteries.
- Captis Aire LLC, launched by Kim Tutin to capture air pollutants from wood product manufacturing sites.
- Holocene Climate Corporation, co-founded by Keeton Ross to design chemical plants that efficiently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
- Vitriform3D Inc., co-founded by Alex Stiles to utilize recycled glass as a feedstock in powder bed 3D printing.
Each of the companies will deliver a short pitch during the all-afternoon event that begins at 12:30 p.m. MDT. The Demo Day will also feature a keynote speech by a graduate of one of the LEEP programs.
LEEP now involves five programs supported by six DOE national laboratories. In addition to ORNL, the other programs are:
- “Chain Reaction Innovations” at Argonne National Laboratory outside of Chicago, IL;
- “Cyclotron Road” at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA;
- “New Mexico LEEP,” a joint effort involving Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories; and
- “West Gate” at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
