Applications open for 865 Fest Pitch Competition | $15,000 in cash prizes on the line

The 865Alliance is seeking growth stage startups to apply for the annual 865Fest pitch competition, which will be held at Bridgewater Place in Knoxville on Tuesday, September 29.

Each year, the collaborating organizations that make up the Innov865 Alliance join forces to bring a day-long event to the entrepreneurial and innovation community in Knoxville. Formerly known as Startup Day, the celebratory event was rebranded last year as 865 Fest.

This year will feature visionary keynotes, two premier pitch competitions, thought-provoking panels, breakout sessions, and more.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for a networking breakfast and registration. Programming will begin at 9 a.m., with lunch provided.

At the conference, six Knoxville start-ups will pitch before a live audience and panel of judges in hopes of winning the Judges’ Choice Award and the Crowd Favorite Award, totaling $15,000 in cash prizes.

Last year’s Judges’ Choice winner was Lance Adler with Witching Hour ($10,000), and the Crowd Favorite went to Joel Smith with TeachCraft ($5,000).

Applications are to be considered for that competition, as well as the Emerging Entrepreneur Pitch Competition for college student entrepreneurs or recent graduates in the past year.

Katy Daniels wins 865 Fest Emerging Entrepreneur Pitch.
