PYA’s Teknovation welcomes Lindsay Turner to the team
The University of Tennessee, Knxoville graduate joins PYA from Design Sensory where she worked as the Market Development Lead.
Lindsay Turner started this week with PYA as the firm’s new Business Liaison and as a Business Journalist for Teknovation.

She joins the firm from Designsensory, where she worked as a Market Development Lead, spearheading business development initiatives, writing proposals, and analyzing agency growth. Before that, she held the role of Communications Director for Omega Technical Services in Oak Ridge, managing everything from multi-channel marketing to brand-building and content creation.
“As a Knoxville native, I’m deeply invested in seeing this region thrive. This role is the perfect intersection of my background: it combines my professional experience in business development with my personal passion for writing. I am honored to help shape the future of PYA’s Teknovation, ensuring the publication continues to drive forward while respecting its incredible legacy,” Turner said.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Public Relations, Turner has been a go-getter since college. She interned with organizations like the Knoxville Chamber and the American Heart Association.
“It has been a joy getting to know Lindsay. She brings a lot of valuable experience, connections, and energy to the table,” said Katelyn Biefeldt, Managing Editor of Teknovation. “She will play a key role in helping us expand our coverage, reach new audiences, and help spread the good news about the entrepreneurs and innovators who strengthen Tennessee’s economy.”
Teknovation is an online, ad-free, and subscription-free platform that covers business news across Tennessee. The publication helps connect founders, business leaders, investors, and community members to broader economic development efforts in the region.
Tom Ballard, PYA’s former Chief Alliance Officer and Founding Editor of Teknovation, launched the publication on January 23, 2012. It was created to share the success stories of Tennessee entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, small business owners, and scientists.
PYA has remained committed to investing in that mission for more than a decade. The firm’s support is evident through Teknovation’s continued growth and the PYA Ballard Innovation Award, which annually provides sixty-five thousand dollars in capital and in-kind services to area entrepreneurs.
