Tennessee scores two spots in highly competitive national SXSW pitch showcases
The startup showcases will feature 45 innovators, five in each innovation category, representing regions across the country from California and New York to Texas and Tennessee.
Innovators across the nation are gearing up for South by Southwest (SXSW), which kicks off in one month. This year’s event will run from March 12 to 18.
Two Tennessee companies have been selected from more than 600 applicants to participate in the highly competitive SXSW Pitch competitions. The showcase will feature 45 innovators, five in each category, representing regions across the country from California and New York to Texas and Tennessee.
Knoxville-based Orion Therapeutics was selected as one of five companies to present in the Healthcare, Assistive Tech, and BioTech category. (See more on Teknovation).
Nashville-based Spikey was chosen as one of the five startups competing in the Student category. (See more on Teknovation).
Tennessee House
Each year, Launch Tennessee partners with entrepreneurship organizations statewide to bring the best-of-the-best tech and consumer startups to Austin for a week of innovation showcases, networking, and pitch opportunities.
The Tennessee House is part of SXSW and spotlights Tennessee founders and innovators across technology, film, music, and culture. Tennessee-specific programming runs from March 13 to 15.
The Tennessee House opens Friday, March 13, with a gathering for University of Tennessee System alumni.
On the morning of March 14, programming will highlight emerging industries such as quantum technologies and advanced logistics in Chattanooga. That evening, the focus shifts to Nashville’s startup and innovation economy.
After a full day of programming on Saturday, the popular hip hop karaoke night returns, this time paired with late-night dancing to celebrate Dolly Parton’s 80th birthday.
The morning of Saturday, March 14, will spotlight Knoxville’s energy ecosystem. The schedule includes a panel on developments in nuclear technology, a founder pitch showcase, and opportunities to connect with emerging startups from the Scruffy City.
That afternoon will highlight Memphis-based companies and how they are shaping economic growth in the region.
