Whisper Aero unveils Tone T1 leafblower, a new handheld device with UltraQuiet™ technology
Alongside the new Tone T1 leafblower, the Whisper Aero team also announced the launch of it's new outdoor management brand, Tone.
Have you ever been woken up in the early morning hours by a neighbor who decided it was time to tidy up the leaves in their yard? Leaf blowers on the market have strong propulsion, minimal sound dampening, and high-speed engines. It’s the perfect recipe for a loud, prolonged activity.
Whisper Aero, a Crossville-based company, has been indirectly solving this problem for the past five years, though its primary application has long been for aviation, aerospace, and defense.
The Whisper team fundamentally changed how to convert electricity into thrust, resulting in cleaner, quieter, and more efficient operation without compromises. As it turns out, that technology is also a good fit for leaf blowers.
On Monday, the fast-growing start-up company unveiled its new outdoor air management brand Tone, debuting the Tone T1, a handheld leaf blower powered by Whisper’s proprietary UltraQuiet™ electric propulsion system.
At peak thrust, it operates at only 52 dB(A), which is approximately 40 percent more powerful than the strongest electric blowers available today. Additionally, Tone T1 is 60 percent quieter than the quietest option on the market.
About a year ago, Whisper Aero had previewed an early silent leaf blower prototype, which generated significant market interest. Tone T1 is now the first commercial product under the company’s new outdoor air management brand.
“Whisper Aero was founded on a passion to achieve a quieter world, in the air and on the ground. The Tone T1 Leaf blower is the first product to use aerospace-grade technology derived from my years at NASA, where I pioneered electric aircraft. The T1 achieves breakthroughs not only in ultra-low noise but also in higher efficiency, providing longer battery runtime. It’s also the most powerful handheld – compare us to any other Leaf blower, and we literally blow them away! Help us make neighborhoods quieter now, while we make aircraft quieter in the future,” Whisper Aero’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Moore said.
According to research by Whisper, several Homeowners’ Associations, cities, and school districts have introduced quiet hours to protect daily routines. For example, in 2021, more than 100 cities took action to funnel what has grown into a sweeping movement that now reaches across entire states.
“Only by rethinking the core of how a blower moves air can a new class of quiet, capable tools rise to meet the expectations of modern communities. Tone T1 is a solution that offers discreet operation while enhancing performance, serving both professional and residential needs, operating comfortably in neighborhoods, hospitality environments, and shared spaces,” Whisper Aero’s Chief Operations Officer, Ian Villa, said.
