What’s the next big tech breakthrough?

Mark Yusko of Morgan Creek Capital says 2024 will be the year of the next one if the every 14-year pattern holds.

What’s the next big technology breakthrough that should happen in 2024 if past patterns hold?

Mark Yusko, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Chapel Hill’s Morgan Creek Capital, says in this recent article in WRAL TechWire that those key moments occur every 14 years. He cites the mainframe computer in 1954, the microchip in 1968, the personal computer in 1982, the internet in 1996, and the mobile net in 2010.

The article notes that Morgan Creek’s Digital Innovation group is ready to take advantage of this imminent “sweet spot,” and Yusko firmly believes that Blockchain technology has been unfairly devalued by recent news. In that regard, Morgan Creek is raising money for its fourth fund that will focus on opportunities in Blockchain and the other “ABCD’s” of digital innovation: artificial intelligence, computing infrastructure, and big data. The goal is to raise $200 to 300 million by the middle of next year.
