Uncat selected for Intuit’s Developer Growth Program pilot

The initiative is designed to help app developers succeed with more than 4.5 million small businesses around the world that run on the QuickBooks platform.

It’s the second day in a row that Knoxville entrepreneur Brandon Bruce is in the spotlight.

Yesterday, it was about Penguin Mustache, a start-up that Bruce and Jared M. Smith, a former scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, had launched to execute the commercialization of technology the new venture licensed to create the Evasive.ai cybersecurity platform. Today, it’s about Uncat, a company he and three others, including Smith, launched at the beginning of November 2020 to address a common problem that bookkeepers and accountants face – uncategorized expenses.

Last week Intuit announced that Uncat and two other application developers have joined the company’s Developer Growth Program pilot. The program is designed to help app developers succeed with more than 4.5 million small businesses around the world that run on the QuickBooks platform.

“Jared and I are excited about the opportunity to work closely with Intuit’s developer and marketing teams to serve as many accounting professionals and their clients as we can,” Bruce says.

The spring 2023 cohort is participating in a six-month initiative where each developer will work closely with the Intuit Developers & Partners group to identify and test growth opportunities. The cohort will have access to an exclusive network of accountants, UX experts, solution architects, and go-to-market managers, as well as the opportunity to gain increased visibility within our QuickBooks and developer communities.

“Our objectives for the program include helping developers maximize their marketing impact, connect with more customers, and increase their app revenue,” Intuit wrote in this news release.

In addition to Uncat, the other new participants are:

  • Buildertrend, a leading residential construction management platform designed to help contractors manage their projects from start to finish; and
  • Katana, which is bundled with QuickBooks online to streamline accounting, inventory, and production in an intuitive cloud manufacturing platform.
