Two area development districts are latest to receive EDA CARES Act funding

The U.S. Economic Development Administration announced additional funding last week under the “CARES Act Recovery Assistance” initiative, and two area organizations were recipients.

  • The East Tennessee Development District in Alcoa will receive a $400,000 grant to respond to the coronavirus pandemic by hiring two new staffers to provide critical technical assistance resources for local governments in the district’s 16-county region.
  • The Upper Cumberland Development District in Cookeville will also receive $400,000 to hire additional staff and invest in technology to enhance the economic development efforts of the region’s communities.
