The Maker City Summit kicks off its tenth year the last weekend in January
The annual Maker City Summit in Knoxville attracts artisans, creatives, and makers from across the Southeast for a weekend full of learning, connections, and community.
For the past decade, Knoxville’s maker community has gathered annually to share ideas, build businesses, and celebrate creativity. This year, the Maker City Summit is commemorating its 10th anniversary with a weekend designed to inspire and connect makers of all kinds.
The event kicks off Friday, January 30, at 5:30 p.m. with a soirée celebration honoring the growth and achievements of local artisans and entrepreneurs. The evening will feature an energetic atmosphere filled with conversation, inspiration, and a few surprises to mark this milestone year. It will be hosted at AbleTrade in Knoxville.
The Summit continues Saturday, January 31, at 10 a.m. with keynote speaker Debbie Millman, host of the acclaimed podcast Design Matters. Millman will lead a workshop on creating a 10-Year Plan, an exercise she developed to help individuals envision and shape their future with intention.
On Sunday, February 1, at 10 a.m., keynote speaker Sarah Sewell of Flourish With Sarah will challenge makers to embrace their roles as business owners. Her session, “How to Build an Artisan Brand Online,” focuses on shifting mindset and strategies to grow a sustainable brand.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can participate in workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at helping makers scale their businesses, attract customers, and build lasting brands. The lineup reflects the diversity of Knoxville’s creative community, including painters, potters, brewers, bakers, performers, and fabricators.
Whether you are a seasoned creative entrepreneur or just starting an e-commerce business, the Maker City Summit offers a space to learn, connect, and celebrate the spirit of making.
