Special ETEC meeting next Monday features global leader of innovation district organization

If you are a long-time member of the East Tennessee Economic Council as I have been for nearly two decades, you know that the organization has a standing meeting at 7:30 a.m. most Fridays. The exclusions are Fridays before a Monday holiday, the day after Thanksgiving, and the last few Fridays in December.

Well, there is a special session set for next week, and it’s on Monday, August 16 to which members and non-members are invited.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory has arranged for Julie Wagner, President of The Global Institute on Innovation Districts, to visit East Tennessee to discuss the Oak Ridge Corridor’s potential as an innovation center. During a virtual meeting beginning at 1 p.m. EDT, Wagner will explain what innovation districts are, why they are valued by governments and other local stakeholders, and key factors leading to their success.
