SparkHaus set to open soon in Covington, KY
Located in a former furniture store, the more than 50,000-square-foot facility offers co-working, private offices, event space, and five VC tenants.
SparkHaus, Northern Kentucky’s new hub for innovation and entrepreneurship located in a former furniture store in downtown Covington, has announced the date that it is opening and also that five leading venture capital (VC) firms will call the space home.
Teknovation.biz first reported on the initiative in this early February 2024 article when we noted that a number of organizations had joined forces. Originally pegged at about $9 million, construction costs ballooned to more than $16 million. SparkHaus is the product of a partnership between Kenton County, the Northern Kentucky Port Authority, and Blue North.
Tenants began moving into the space this week, with a grand opening celebration slated for September 22. SparkHaus offers more than 50,000 square feet of co-working and collaborative areas, 34 private offices, and versatile meeting and event spaces.
The VC firms – eGateway Capital, Keyhorse Capital, Fireroad Ventures, Commonwealth Seed Capital, and the Kentucky Angel Collective – represent a diverse mix of investors dedicated to fueling start-up growth across the region.
In addition, Connetic Ventures — located just across the street from SparkHaus — will have a routine presence within the space as both a founding sponsor and corporate co-working member. Connetic leverages its own artificial intelligence software, named Wendal, to remove bias in how start-ups are evaluated and funded. Their involvement underscores the collaborative energy building in Covington, with investors both inside and around SparkHaus working together to champion local founders.
