Real Good Kitchen acquires Magpies Bakery
The move also reflects Real Good Kitchen’s mission of supporting food entrepreneurs and strengthening Knoxville’s food community.
Real Good Kitchen, Knoxville’s first full-service shared commercial kitchen and food business incubator, has officially acquired Magpies Bakery, the Central Street staple known for its “all butter, all the time” cakes, cupcakes, and desserts.
While ownership changes hands, fans of Magpies can rest assured: the bakery’s same recipes, same quality, and same beloved treats will continue, now strengthened by Real Good Kitchen’s resources, energy, and mission to “make change through food.”
“Magpies is a Knoxville treasure, and we are honored to carry its legacy forward,” said Bailey Foster, Founder of Real Good Kitchen. “We want the community to know that nothing is disappearing. Magpies’ cakes and desserts aren’t going anywhere. This is about building on a strong foundation and helping Magpies thrive for years to come.”
Magpies Bakery, located at 846 N. Central Street, will remain open with its full menu of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, and seasonal specialties. Under Real Good Kitchen’s leadership, Magpies will continue serving the Knoxville community with the same products customers know and love, while exploring new ways to grow and connect with food lovers across the region.
The acquisition also reflects Real Good Kitchen’s mission of supporting food entrepreneurs and strengthening Knoxville’s food community. By bringing Magpies into its family, Real Good Kitchen will preserve one of Knoxville’s most beloved brands while ensuring its future vitality.
Separately, the Real Good Kitchen Foundation is hosting what it calls a “Real Good Gathering” from 6 to 9 p.m. EDT on October 23 at the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum.
The event will feature Katie Button, a five-time James Beard Foundation award nominated chef, cookbook author, media personality, and founder of Asheville-based restaurant Cúrate. The restaurant group also includes Events by Cúrate, an online marketplace called Cúrate at Home, a wine club, and culinary tour company called Cúrate Trips, designed to connect people with the Spanish experience.
