Plug and Play launches second accelerator in Arizona that is focused on sustainability

The Governor of Arizona helped launch the program at an event in Phoenix.

Plug and Play accelerateAZ, a program of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), recently celebrated the official launch of the new accelerator program that will support the growth of sustainability-focused start-ups in Arizona.

As part of something called “Selection Day,” Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs helped kick off the new accelerator program. “Arizona is at the heart of America’s manufacturing resurgence,” said Governor Hobbs. “The sustainability program highlights Arizona’s growing clean energy economy and showcases Arizona’s leadership as a destination for sustainable technologies and innovation. I would like to thank Plug and Play and the ACA for their efforts to advance Arizona’s startup ecosystem and expand our sustainability footprint.”

The sustainability program will support start-ups in the areas of renewable energy, water resiliency, sustainable mining, circular materials, and carbon neutrality. The program will accelerate two batches of start-ups per year, connecting them to leading corporate partners to foster sustainability-focused collaborations.

The new program marks the second accelerator launched under Plug and Plug accelerateAZ. The other is the Advanced Manufacturing program, which has selected 27 start-ups across two cohorts since launching in 2023. The Advanced Manufacturing program is supported by anchor partners Intel, Honeywell Aerospace, Raytheon Missiles & Defense, and NXP.
