OSU rebrands its commercialization activities with novel name

Now, here’s a novel name for a university-based commercialization initiative that you probably will not forget.

Oklahoma State University has announced that it is moving existing tech development offices and programs into a single point of contact for industry engagement, and the name of the new entity is Cowboy Innovations.

In a news release about the rebranding/reorganization, Zach Miles, Senior Associate vice president for Technology and Economic Development, was quoted as saying, “Through this unification, Cowboy Innovations can provide the highest level of service to both internal and external stakeholders and accelerate mutually beneficial engagements with industry. New life-changing products and services, as well as economic growth and diversification, will occur.”

Miles said the reorganization will also help to attract industry engagement and will provide Oklahoma with high-tech job opportunities, tax revenue and a wider range of economies. The hope, he said, is “to see this bolster the success of economic development and diversification in Oklahoma as well as help weather economic downturns.”
