The Weekend News Roundup features stories related to local business, technology, entrepreneurship, economy, events, and innovation.
This weekend is packed full of events, drawing large crowds to the Scruffy City. One of the year’s most anticipated events, the Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk kicks off on Saturday, April 6 at 8 a.m. The artists will work on their pieces until 5 p.m., and then end with an awards ceremony around 7 p.m.
Thousands of art lovers head downtown each year to experience this live art competition in Market Square. Chalk Walk features over 300 artists and collaborative teams. Cash prizes and ribbons are awarded to select artists who have created imaginative and inspiring artworks in their age division.

First Friday
Twenty years ago, the local community began gathering on the First Friday of each month in downtown Knoxville to examine the arts and culture the city had to offer. Over time, this tradition has expanded beyond the city center.
