News & Notes | TAEBC announces annual event featuring a TVA senior executive

The Spark Innovation Center at the University of Tennessee (UT) Research Park will host a battery seminar on July 29.

From Knoxville but with Statewide Interest:

The Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council (TAEBC) will hold its annual event featuring a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) executive in a virtual event at 12 noon EDT on August 12. Doug Perry, TVA’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development, will discuss the public power utility’s new Valley Vision initiative, which leverages new collaborations with its lower power company partners and direct serve customers to better serve the valley.

The Spark Innovation Center at the University of Tennessee (UT) Research Park will host a battery seminar from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT on July 29 at the Institute for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. The event will feature three presenters:

  1. Thomas A. Zawodzinski, UT-Oak Ridge National Laboratory Governor’s Chair for Electrical Energy Conversion and Storage;
  2. Brian Washington, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AluminAiry; and
  3. Don DeRosa, CEO of Eonix.

The Knoxville Technology Council’s Women in Tech is hosting the third annual Women in Tech Expo: Grow Better Together from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT on September 26 at the Knoxville Convention Center.

LIS Technologies Inc., a proprietary developer of advanced laser technology and the only USA-origin and patented laser uranium enrichment company, has announced that Lloyd Jollay, a seasoned nuclear engineering professional with more than 30 years of experience in nuclear safety, materials management, and advanced fuel cycle operations, has been appointed as it UF6 Systems Manager.

Former Vice President of Isotopes and Nuclear Fuel Cycle at Boston Government Services, Jollay led the development of nuclear safety programs and provided licensing support for emerging advanced reactor and isotope production initiatives. His extensive background includes managing criticality safety programs, supporting the peaceful use and transport of uranium materials, and advising on nuclear nonproliferation strategies within the DOE and NNSA complex.

In his prior roles, Jollay held multiple leadership positions at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge. His work included directing nuclear material applications, overseeing high-enriched uranium (HEU) supply and return efforts, and managing multimillion-dollar budgets supporting domestic and international nuclear nonproliferation.
