Nearly 100 people have signed up for mentorship through KEC’s Mentor Network
The Knoxville Entrepreneur Center has a Mentor Network of about 30 people who are trained specifically on how to provide business advice to novice, early-stage, growth-stage, and executive-level startups in East Tennessee.
If you’ve been exposed to the East Tennessee entrepreneurial community for any amount of time, you will have probably noticed that it’s not an ecosystem for exclusively exchanging business cards, striking deals, and signing contracts – instead, it’s a community built on relationships, trust, and mentorship.
To promote community collaboration in the third category, the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center formalized those behind-the-scenes connections on a platform that is more accessible for entrepreneurs seeking mentorship. The organization has coined it “The Mentor Network.”
So far, more than 30 expert entrepreneurs are registered, trained, and excited to serve as mentors in the network. Some of those mentors gathered for an appreciation breakfast on Wednesday morning at the KEC – Ashleigh Walters, Halee Sprinkle, Marcus Blair, Keith Hickey, Frank Ramey, and more.
Nearly a hundred people have signed up for The Mentor Network as mentees. Once a participant formally signs up, they are permitted to enter the portal and reach out to any of the available mentors for their specific company stage: novice, early-stage, growth-stage, or executive-level.

At Wednesday’s breakfast, Ashleigh Walters, the Former President of Onex and current Executive Coach, Leader of the Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Partnership (T-MEP) peer group, and author of “Leading with Grace and Grit,” also shared a word of encouragement with other fellow mentors.
