NAI issues 2019 rankings of universities in terms of issued utility patents
The National Academy of Inventors recently issued the 2019 edition of its report that lists the top 100 universities across the globe in terms of utility patents issued in CY2019.
The top five in 2018 were still the top five in the latest edition although several switched spots. The University of California System and Massachusetts Institute of Technology still ranked first and second respectively.
The Ohio State University was a big gainer, moving up nine spots to #34. It was previously tied with Vanderbilt University which also made great strides, increasing seven spots to a tie for #36 with Yale University (ranked #37 in 2018) and the University of North Carolina (down four spots).
