Knoxville Urban League connects students with viable careers
The Knoxville Area Urban League (KAUL) has partnered with the Urban League of Middle Tennessee to offer the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
Funded by the State of Tennessee, the State Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the largest nationwide initiative. Geared towards youth aged 16 to 24, SYEP facilitates career exploration and offers paid work experiences both during the summer months and year-round. Eligible participants can engage in up to 250 work hours, remunerated at $16 per hour, with a capped benefit of $4,000.
Engagement in these structured programs equips youth with invaluable insights into potential career paths, fostering enhanced preparedness for their professional journey. It also helps students get involved early on with the mission of the Knoxville Area Urban League.
Participating employers are entitled to reimbursement for the compensation disbursed to their enrolled employees. Open to public, private, and non-profit entities, participating employers must be equipped with workman’s compensation insurance, employ participants directly, and furnish a W-9 form. Interested employers can register via https://www.ulmt.org/syep.
