Life science start-ups dominate first matching grants for Alabama recipients of SBIR and STTR awards
Life sciences businesses dominated the list of 30 grantees awarded more than $4.5 million from “Innovate Alabama,” a state public-private partnership.
In an announcement made last week, the Alabama Innovation Corporation awarded the funds totaling more than $4.5 million through the “Innovate Alabama Supplemental Grant Program.” The recipients come from six cities across the state.
Like Tennessee and about 20 other states, the program provides supplemental funding for both Phase I and Phase II federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) winners.
