Let the voting begin

Nineteen start-ups are seeking votes by Sunday in hopes of advancing to next month's "What's the Big Idea?" pitch competition.

Let the public voting begin for the 19 applicants for this year’s “What’s the Big Idea?” pitch competition.

Between now and February 18, individuals can vote as often as once a day for as many of the big ideas as they want to select. The number of public votes a company receives will have an impact on the final teams selected for the official competition, according to Monday afternoon’s announcement from the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center, the host for the annual event.

Individuals should first watch the one-minute elevator pitches of the 19 presenters, then vote for their favorites at this link.

After voting ends on Sunday, the finalists will be announced on February 21. What is now known as “Competition Weekend” starts Friday, March 1, with the pitch competition occurring Sunday night, March 3, at Scruffy City Hall on Market Square. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. EST, and the pitches start at 6:15 p.m. EST. Space is limited, so register early at this link.
