Knoxville start-up makes finals of national challenge, and you can help it win

After four rounds of competition, Uncat is competing for the championship in the applications category of the "Accountant Bracket Challenge."

Just like in the recent NCAA basketball tournament, minus play-in games to make the 64-team championship, there’s been one underway named the “Accountant Bracket Challenge.” It’s also referred to as “ABC March Appness,” and Knoxville start-up Uncat has made it to the Final Four!

“It is like March Madness for accountingtech,” Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Brandon Bruce says. Each of the 64 teams was seeded, and there have been four rounds of voting where the winner each time was decided based on which competitor receives the most votes. There’s only one vote per person per round.

Now, Uncat is competing with three other companies to win the 2023 championship, and our teknovation.biz readers can help. Between now and Saturday, you can vote for Uncat by clicking here, registering, and then voting.

What is Uncat? The start-up helps accountants keep-up with uncategorized expenses. Launched in November 2020as a tool to reduce time and increase accuracy for users of QuickBooks (QB) Online, Uncat captured the “Crowd Favorite” prize of $3,000 during the 2021 “Startup Day” in Knoxville.
