Knoxville-based IACMI launches national ‘Rising Stars’ awards to honor manufacturing talent

Manufacturing remains a powerhouse for the Tennessee economy, contributing $70 billion in value last year and accounting for 11.7% of the state’s GDP (National Association of Manufacturers).
To celebrate the workforce behind these numbers, IACMI, or the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, has officially launched the 2026 Rising Stars Awards.
Part of IACMI’s “Make it in America” initiative, the award specifically honors early-to-mid innovators, machinists, and engineers on the front lines of U.S. manufacturing whose technical achievements are fostering a more resilient and globally competitive industrial future.
Award criteria
Employers, direct leadership, or industry partners must submit nominations. Self-nominations and peer submissions are not eligible.
- Age: 18–35, early-career professionals.
- Industry focus: U.S.-based manufacturing, advanced materials, composites, or direct support of technical roles.
- Demonstrated impact: Contributions that strengthen U.S. competitiveness, innovation, or workforce excellence.
- Employment status: Full-time, part-time, or registered apprenticeship program participation.
- Submission materials: Video or photo and brief bio.
- Top prize: $1,000 monetary award, ability to join a nationally recognized cohort of industry leaders, and national social media coverage.
Key dates
The nomination period is currently open, and organizations are encouraged to nominate their standout talent to gain recognition for supporting the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
