Ken Tobin named as ORAU’s Vice President for University Partnerships

A well-known Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Researcher has been named Vice President of the University Partnerships Office at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU).

Ken Tobin, most recently Director of ORNL’s Office of Institutional Planning, previously served as Director of the Reactor and Nuclear Systems Division at the lab. He was also a Co-Founder of Hubble Telemedical Inc. along with Ed Chaum, then at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The start-up was acquired in 2015 by Welch Allyn Inc. as noted in this teknovation.biz article.

In his new role, Tobin will develop, direct and strengthen programs to create collaborative research and education partnerships among universities, national laboratories and private industry. He will also manage the contractual relationships between ORAU, sponsors and universities that govern the flow of research funding to member universities, as well as facilitate the organization and activities of the ORAU Council of Sponsoring Institutions.
