KEC launching four-session “Media Meetups” series

KEC

The Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC) has announced a new series under the “Media Meetups” banner. It’s four sessions designed to create better connectivity in the local production community by networking and exploring new business models in the digital media space.

The inaugural session begins at 6 p.m. March 16 at KEC on Market Square and will feature Channing Dawson, a former Senior Advisor at Scripps Network Interactive. The title of the program is “The Future of Storytelling.” KEC notes that the progression of technology and the evolution of business models are constantly impacting the way stories are told.

“The Knoxville area is overrun with talented, creative class individuals who work in video and film production, journalism, graphic design and more,” Jonathan Sexton, KEC’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, said. “They have a huge impact on our community culture and economy. I’ve also noticed that there is no ‘center of gravity’ for these creatives. We’re all going to be better off if these individuals have an opportunity connect and share ideas, and that is why we’ve created Media Meetups.”

The remaining dates and topics are as follows:

  • April 13 – “Building an Empire Online”;
  • May 18 – “Get Immersive: Virtual Reality, AR, 360 & Beyond”; and
  • June 15 – “Freelancing and Filmmaking.”
