Five competitors announced for Wednesday night’s “Startup Showdown”

At least two of the five companies pitching for a $120,000 investment from Panoramic Ventures during Wednesday night’s “Startup Showdown” have Tennessee ties.

The event, which is part of this week’s return of the in-person “3686 Festival” from Launch Tennessee, begins at 6:30 p.m. CDT. The five participating start-ups include:

  • Arvo, a Cookeville-based company that provides a platform for visual documentation for teams and their customers without the need for coding and design skills; and
  • Care Sherpa, a Nashville-based start-up that guides healthcare providers to increased volumes and predictive revenue growth – managing the patient lead pipeline with highly personalized consumer follow up and patient support services.

We spotlighted Arvo and its husband and wife Co-Founders (Alane Boyd and Micah Johnson) in this March 2022 teknovation.biz article. They told us at the time that  say that capturing everything from company history to those all-important work processes has become even more critical due to two separate, but distinct trends. One is the “Great Resignation” that is evidenced by high turnover at many companies. The other is the resulting hiring of new employees, many joining in the past two years as remote workers and needing to understand everything from company history and culture to processes and policies.

The other competitors are:

  • Daba, co-founded by two individuals – one based in Atlanta and the other in Miami – whose start-up provides a simple app to access investment strategies and build wealth by investing in Africa’s best private and public market opportunities;
  • Slipbot, also Miami-based, that allows users to drastically improve the efficiency of their document management without making any changes to their current software systems or workflow; and
  • Venu, based in Austin, is a software-as-a-service solution marketplace connecting musicians with bars and restaurants.

Judges are:

  • Chris Sloan, Chair, Emerging Companies Team at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC;
  • Derrick Morgan, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at KNGDM Group and former Tennessee Titans Linebacker;
  • Marlon Nichols, Co-Founder and Managing General Partner at MaC Venture Capital;
  • Paul Judge, Managing Partner at Panoramic Ventures; and
  • Samara Hernandez, Founding Partner at Chingona Ventures.
