CO.LAB offers incentive to get local start-ups to apply for “SXSW Pitch” event
Chattanooga’s CO.LAB wants to help its local entrepreneurs make it to one of the world’s biggest business pitch competitions, so the non-profit will pay the $100 “early bird” application fee to the “SXSW Pitch” festival for five local start-ups.
Additionally, if a local applicant is selected to pitch at the event, CO.LAB will provide a $500 stipend to offset travel expenses to Austin.
“We are hoping to lower the barrier of entry into the ‘South by Southwest’ pitch competition and give locals a little extra help getting seen on a national and global stage,” CO.LAB Chief Executive Officer Lindsey Cox said.
The “early bird” application deadline is September 9. To be considered for this opportunity, start-up founders must apply by midnight EDT on August 30. The link is here, and CO.LAB writes that it will select applications based on creativity, potential, functionality, and the start-up’s team.
