The four are Eddie George, Shirley Zeitlin, Jim Ayers, and Saurabh Sinha.

The initiatives range from one at Davidson College's Jay Hurt Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to one between Benedict College and Black@ Labs.

One is focused on start-ups, awarding between $250,000 and $1 million. The other will provide between $100,000 to $200,000 to science and technology commercialization projects that should lead to a new start-up.

They range from the long-established SC Launch program to participation on two NSF Engines teams and work with SCbio in the Palmetto State's fastest-growing industry sector.

With other funding of more than $2 million, the award was one of nine announced to advance bioindustrial manufacturing innovation, education and collaboration.

CORE SC is soliciting applications, while a company is pulling up roots and moving from one "C City" to another.

Some on the list might surprise you.

Officially named the Pneumatic Actuated Wearable Soft Robotics System for Mirror Hand Rehabilitation (PneuExoHand), the winning device is made up of a pair of gloves, one for each hand.
