Birmingham-based Prosper, gener8tor launch healthtech accelerator

Birmingham-based Prosper, a coalition of business leaders committed to creating a racially inclusive economy, has joined forces with gener8tor, the nationally ranked Wisconsin start-up accelerator and venture fund to launch the “Prosper HealthTech Accelerator.”

As noted by J.W. Carpenter, President of Prosper, the new accelerator “will build off the strengths of an ecosystem that includes UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Therapy Brands and Pack Health along with a burgeoning start-up scene. We believe this ecosystem will provide our diverse group of companies the opportunities for funding, mentoring and networking necessary to grow—and add even more vitality to an already thriving space. We have alignment with top leaders from across sectors who believe this accelerator is a key step in evolving Birmingham into a world-class HealthTech ecosystem.”

Those selected for the 12-week accelerator will take up residency in Birmingham, but the accelerator will accept applications from across the U.S. The new program will invest in start-ups chosen for the accelerator through a fund managed by Redhawk Advisory. Up to two groups of five new ventures are expected to participate each year.

Here’s a link to the application.
