Big plans for The Tennessee House this weekend at SXSW
Ten of the Volunteer State's top start-ups will be featured over two days during events at the Electric Shuffle Austin.
Launch Tennessee‘s “house” opens this weekend during the South By Southwest (SXSW) gathering in Austin, TX.
Officially dubbed The Tennessee House, it is a collaboration with the Chattanooga Area Chamber, Greater Memphis Chamber, Knoxville Chamber, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, NE TN, and Williamson Inc. All events occur at the Electric Shuffle Austin, and those with any ties to the Volunteer State are encouraged to register at this link.
Saturday Plans:
901 Day will include a fireside chat titled “Emerging Med Tech: Memphis Founders Share Success Stories.” It features Kayla Graff, Founder of SweetBio, and Idicula Mathew, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hera Health Solutions. They have leveraged the emerging Memphis med tech scene to catapult their businesses to success.
After that, attendees can stay for lunch — chicken bacon ranch pizza and BBQ sliders — and then express themselves at a coloring party while listening to ‘90s R&B music, infused with can’t miss Memphis hits. And, end the day with Nails and Cocktails. Come meet Memphis company Blank Beauty, which uses color-match technology to create signature colors in exact Pantone. Check out the kiosk and see colors come to life! The first 100 guests will receive one of three custom polishes — all made with a Memphis twist.
The day also includes a whiskey showdown, Hip Hop Karaoke, and a late-night hang.
Sunday Schedule:
Attendees can enjoy brunch bites and drinks while mingling with 10 of Tennessee’s top start-ups. Each of the companies will make short, two-minute speed pitches on stage before moving to tables where they can talk directly with members of the audience and continue sharing about their companies. The companies pitching are: Safire Technology; Holocene; Branch Technology; Personality Pool; Hera Health Solutions; Connect Music; Giggs; Whisper Aero; SweetBio; Gun.io; and Markify.
