Big cloud providers jump on generative AI bandwagon

Amazon Web Services is launching a 10-week generative AI accelerator program. Ten inaugural participants will receive up to $300,000 in AWS credits plus other services.

Jacob Robbins writes in this recent PitchBook analysis that “the struggle over generative AI (artificial intelligence) is just beginning.”

He notes that each of the big cloud providers has jumped to add generative AI services to its offering. That includes Azure OpenAI launched by Microsoft, which utilizes the new GPT-4, and Alphabet which added Vertex AI to its Google Cloud service.

Now, Amazon is wading into the generative AI wars with an accelerator designed to attract start-ups to its cloud offering, taking aim at its rivals. Start-ups will apply to be included in the 10-week Amazon Web Services (AWS) generative AI accelerator program.

AWS will select 10 companies to participate in the program, and each will receive up to $300,000 in AWS credits and get access to cloud services and a host of networking and mentorship opportunities.
