Amazon’s first delivery station in Knoxville opens
Amazon’s new” last mile” facility in Knoxville will have the capability to deliver hundreds of thousands of customers orders every day.
Amazon is deepening its commitment to Knoxville with the opening of a new “last mile” delivery facility, DNA6. It will bring more than 250 full-time jobs to the community. This expansion is part of Amazon’s investment to increase efficiency and better serve its customers in Tennessee and beyond.
The 219,000-square-foot DNA6 facility is designed to support the company’s advanced logistics network, which can deliver hundreds of thousands of customer orders each day. It will serve as the last stopping point where individual customer packages are sorted and prepared for direct delivery. Last-mile delivery is critical, as it involves direct transit from Amazon’s fulfillment centers to customers’ doors.
The facility will partner with 12 Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), employing around 700 drivers. In addition to these drivers, Amazon has more than 24,000 full- and part-time employees across Tennessee, supporting 15 fulfillment and sortation centers as well as nine delivery station operations.
The DNA6 will be the first delivery station in East Tennessee to deploy more than 80 electric delivery vehicles.
Ahead of the peak season and the holidays, Amazon is also further boosting its Knoxville workforce by hiring an additional 1,000 employees for its DNA6 and Alcoa TYS1 facilities.
To attract and retain talent, Amazon offers competitive starting pay of $18.50 per hour for DNA6 employees, along with benefits that include healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401(k) plan with a 50 percent company match. Early next year, eligible hourly employees will receive a Prime membership as part of their benefits, allowing them to enjoy Amazon’s services for as long as they remain on the team.
Amazon’s Knoxville facilities are also part of a larger Tennessee network that supports more than 6,000 small and medium-sized businesses that sell on Amazon. This expansion underlines Amazon’s commitment to supporting local economies and enhancing service for customers throughout Tennessee.
