Shappi acquires Comparto Mi Maleta to progress cross-border travel logistics services

The four year old startup is a portfolio company of the Brickyard in Chattanooga.

In late December, Chattanooga-based Shappi announced its acquisition of its competitor, Comparto Mi Maleta, a company specializing in cross-border package delivery.

According to Leads on Trees, Comparto Mi Maleta facilitates the import of purchases from anywhere in the world, primarily from the USA, by connecting individuals who want to buy products abroad with travelers willing to transport them in their luggage.

Forbes Ecuador picked up the story of the acquisition, which took place in late November.

The travel logistics company, founded in 2017, reportedly transported over 300,000 products between approximately a million users and has generated approximately $20 million since its inception, according to Forbes.

“We bought 100% of the Chilean brand’s assets, its technology, its users, its operations,” Valdivieso told Forbes.

The market that both travelogistics companies will cover includes Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, and Peru, and the now-combined team comprises more than 50 people.
