Programming announced for Opportunities in Energy in November

The full day summit will take place in Knoxville on November 19.

It seems news in the energy sector of Tennessee never slows down. Every month, another nuclear-related corporation announces its relocation to Tennessee, start-up founders are moving here for programs like Innovation Crossroads at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) or the Spark Cleantech Accelerator at the University of Tennessee (UT) Research Park at Cherokee Farm, and state and federal dollars are flowing graciously into the area’s advanced energy initiatives.

There’s no better place to get a full understanding of the energy scene than at the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council (TAEBC) Opportunities in Energy event in late November.

A couple of key speakers and panels have been confirmed for the November event.

Notably, the keynote for this year’s summit will be none other than Carl Coe, the Chief of Staff for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

A panel discussion about strategic leadership in energy, innovation, and impact has also been confirmed in the programming. The key speakers in that conversation will be Cortney Piper, the Executive Director of the TAEBC, Randy Boyd, the President of the UT System, Stephen Streiffer, the Director of ORNL, and Don Moul, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

And, no conference about advanced energy in the area would be complete without a discussion on the restoration of the enriched uranium industry. That portion of the summit will be led by Amir Vexler, the President and CEO of Centrus Energy Corporation.

Each year, the TAEBC also presents a state or local leader with the annual Thomas B. Ballard Advanced Energy Leadership Award. The award honors exemplary leadership and success in championing, connecting, and strengthening Tennessee’s advanced energy economy. He also serves as the Editor and Publisher of Teknovation.

The Opportunities in Energy event is now open for registration.
