VFL, Eli Purcell opens Knoxville’s first mobile golf simulator
In addition to allowing people to play simulations of famous golf courses, it also provides players with real-time data, including ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate.
After years of playing football for Farragut High School and later becoming a Volunteer for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Eli Purcell is building his post-graduation career with an entirely different sport.
“I came across Dryvebox last year when I was playing football for Tennessee. I was Googling golf simulators, thought they were cool, and started looking into franchise opportunities for them,” he said.
He put his name into the interest form, and after a couple of months, a trip to California, and a ton of phone calls, he became the Dryvebox franchise owner for East Tennessee.
Dryvebox is a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled golf studio that can bring golf to any park, party, or corporate gathering. Some people may have seen Purcell’s simulator at Sequoyah Hills Park, Big Kahuna Wing Festival, or more recently, 865 Fest at Bridgewater Place.

The parent company has been in business since 2020.
Eventually, Purcell said he wants to find a central location to park the simulator, where people can come and rent the space for an hour. But, for now, his focus is on serving large parties and corporate events to build awareness.
“I want people to know, whether it’s their first swing or they’re a seasoned golfer, Dryvebox is perfect for everyone. Our mission is to cultivate golf everywhere,” Purcell said.
