On July 22, 2025, Aqua-Chem celebrated the ribbon cutting of its expanded office facility in Knoxville.
Aqua-Chem provides total solutions for pure water needs. For example, this means that they design, build, and support systems that turn dirty or salty water into very clean, pure water. The company has roots back to 1929 as a boiler business, and later turned into the primary provider of clean drinking water to deployed military troops.
Today, their treatment technologies include vapor compression distillation, flash evaporation, reverse osmosis, membrane filtration, and ion exchange. They support various industries, including Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Commercial Marine, Military, and Industrial Markets.
Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI) acquired Aqua-Chem in 2022. Aqua‑Chem brings NSI a strong presence in North America—accounting for around 70 percent of its revenues—with approximately 250 employees and over 300 customers in more than 40 countries, as of 2022.
