Ex9 is automating yard logistics in manufacturing

The founder, Ksenia Duarte, is a participant in the 2025 Sustainable Mobility Accelerator.

There are only a few weeks remaining in the 2025 Sustainable Mobility Accelerator, and so far, it’s been a program packed with progress.

For example, we spoke with the EVBots founder, Virind Gujral, about his decision to relocate his fast-growing robotic EV charging business to Chattanooga. We also interviewed Rima Seiilova-Olson about the launch of her TenvosAI pilots in a couple large manufacturing companies. Her voice recognition tech is working to prevent impairment caused by fatigue, sleep deprivation, or substance use in real time.

Now, we want to put the spotlight on Ex9, which is co-founded by Ksenia Duarte and Enzo Salvatore.

The founders joined the Chattanooga-based Sustainable Mobility Accelerator from France!

What is Ex9 bringing to market?

Ex 9 deploys fleets of “Autonomous Yard Tractors” to move heavy loads like trailers, containers, swap bodies, pallets, and coils at manufacturing facilities and yards.

A lot of the attention in the logistics industry is given to the movement of goods across highways, airways, trains, and oceans, but one of the most complex and often overlooked aspects happens in the yard — where trailers and containers are shuffled around.

The company is developing technology that automates yard operations using autonomous tractors. Ex9’s system is designed to replace the often manual and labor-intensive processes currently in place at many logistics and industrial yards.

Over the course of the 12-week accelerator program, Ex9 has partnered with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to produce autonomous vehicles capable of operating in real-world logistics environments.

These aren’t just experimental prototypes. According to an update from The Company Lab, Ex9’s technology is already being deployed in real-use cases.

By modernizing yard operations, Ex9 is helping to create safer workplaces and more resilient supply chains.

What does Ex9 mean?

According to the website, “9 represents the energy, the outcome, the result, the perfect interpretation of a complete offer, of a successful system, of a complex project carried out with brilliance from A to Z.”

For the founders of Ex9, this means listening to the customers, always going a step further, and continuously pushing limits.

“We leave it to your imagination to guess what the letters ‘e‘ and ‘x‘ mean,” the founders said.

The company’s broader mission includes reducing physical strain on workers, minimizing emissions, and improving operational throughput.
