Environment America ranks states on renewables in six categories
There’s a new report out from Environment America that ranks states in terms of various components of renewable energy. Titled “Renewables on the Rise,” it’s a dashboard with data on each state in several categories.
Where does Tennessee rank?
- Growth of wind energy (#39), a decline from 48 GWh in 2012 to 41 GWh in 2021;
- Growth of solar energy (#35), a significant jump from 16 GWh in 2012 to 424 GWh in 2021;
- Growth of electric vehicle (EV) sales (#23), rising also significantly from 711 in 2021 to 5,417 in 2021;
- Growth of EV charging ports (#21), jumping from a mere 132 in 2012 to 1,504 in 2021;
- Growth of energy savings programs (#41), a significant drop from 4,269 GWh in 2013 to just 818 GWh in 2020; and
- No growth in battery storage capacity, placing the Volunteer State at #37 in the country.
