USPTO reportedly punting on some key decisions as agency awaits Senate-confirmed Director
Bloomberg Law reports that the lack of a permanent Director for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is having a negative impact, particularly in terms of some key decisions.
According to the post, the USPTO has been grappling with issues such as review of Patent and Trial Appeal Board decisions and how its examiners should determine if certain inventions are eligible for patents. Progress on those issues is largely stalled until a new Director is in place.
Bloomberg Law also notes that the interim leader isn’t setting policy in some areas while the USPTO awaits a U.S. Senate-confirmed Director.
