“52 Film Fest” announced for weekend of March 4-6 in Johnson City

In what sounds a lot like an all-weekend launch event but with a twist, three Johnson City-based organizations have announced “52 Film Fest,” a film competition scheduled for the weekend of March 4, 5 and 6.

Teams of filmmakers will have 52 hours to complete a short film. The teams will work on their films from 8 a.m. Friday to noon on Sunday. There will be two screenings for completed films, starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday night, at the Wallace Theater, and an awards ceremony will follow the second screening.

The event is a collaboration involving the Department of Media and Communication at East Tennessee State University, Wallace Theater, and Action VFX, the company that provides stock video footage for visual effects and motion graphics. We spotlighted Action VFX Founder Rodolphe Pierre-Louis in this April 2020 teknovation.biz article.

The deadline to register to participate in the “52 Film Festival” competition is February 20. There is a $52 registration fee. All films that meet the competition criteria and are delivered on time will be eligible for competition prizes. Sponsors of the event include Dos Gatos, Crumb Bakery, and Spark Plaza.

More details can be found on the official website.
