DOE announces new “American Made Solar Prize” initiative
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a new entrepreneurial initiative focused on solar technology. Dubbed the “American Made Solar Prize,” the effort is intended to incentivize the nation’s entrepreneurs to develop new processes and products that will reassert American leadership in the solar marketplace. The $3 million prize is above and beyond DOE funding of up to $400 million for solar projects and technologies in 2017.
According to this release, the program will be administered by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Other details will be announced soon, according to this website.
