TeachCraft wins What’s the Big Idea pitch competition
The start-up bested five other competitors in the Sunday night event at Scruffy City Hall.
After a weekend of mentorship, boot camp-style business acceleration, and pitch preparation, six founders took to the stage for the annual Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC) ‘What’s the Big Idea?’ Pitch Competition.
The six companies 0 CRB, Fibar Code, Partnerly, Data Rook, Modern Day Stay At Home Mom, and TeachCraft couldn’t be more different. The businesses range from job connection platforms to patented-technologies and AI-driven data collection platforms.
The three esteemed judges Bailey Foster, the Founder of The Real Good Kitchen, Lilly Tench, the Director of The Spark Innovation Center, and Marcus Blair, the founder of Omega Business Solutions, ultimately decided to give the top prize to TeachCraft and its Founder Joel Smith.
The company is a platform driven by teacher input and artificial intelligence that helps educators create new project-based lesson plans in a matter of minutes. Smith created it for his own personal use, and quickly realized the value of his product.
Already, about 25 educators in his school system have adopted the technology in their classrooms to assist in lesson plans.
We’ll have complete coverage of the event and each of the start-ups in our Tuesday edition of teknovation.biz.
