TVBA, law firm again sponsoring INVEST business competition

TVBA InvestAre you a military veteran and entrepreneur?

If the answer is “yes,” you will want to consider an upcoming set of opportunities from the Tennessee Veterans Business Association (TVBA) and The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto. The two organizations are again teaming to sponsor INVEST, an annual event that culminates with a pitch competition during TVBA’s fifth annual “Business & Education Expo” January 26 and 27.

“We’re trying to expand our reach and tap into the start-up market to help veterans still trying to get businesses going,” said Jonathan Williams, TVBA Chair.

Those interested in being considered are required to submit an application by January 16. The form can be found here. Three companies will be selected for the finals, and the winner will receive a $5,000 grant from The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto.

To help veteran entrepreneurs, TVBA and the law firm are hosting a three-session, two-hour per session Business Bootcamp in conjunction with the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center. The sessions start January 6 and run for the next two Tuesday evenings.

“Participation in the bootcamp is not a requirement to be considered for INVEST,” Williams said. With the application deadline for the competition more than a month away, there’s already a good deal of interest.

“We’re very pleased with the applications already submitted,” Williams said.
