Chattanooga, TN – The Enterprise Center announced today that Imran Akbar, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Networks and Communications for MOTOROLA will lead the keynote address at the sixth annual Technology Transfer Conference on April 17 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Mr. Akbar has over 20 years of progressive experience in the Communications and Information Technology industries. He is currently responsible for Motorola Solutions’ Enterprise Networking and Communications multi-hundred million dollar business. Previously Mr. Akbar served as Director of Business Strategy and Global Industries Development for Unisys, a worldwide information technology company, as well as managing mergers and acquisitions for Sprint International. His presentation will take place during the lunch session of the conference at approximately 12:00pm.
Opening the conference will be E. Keats Webb with the Smithsonian’s Museum Conservation Institute. Her work with the Museum Conservation Institute uses a variety of scientific and computational imaging to aid in the research and conservation of the Smithsonian collections. Among current projects, she recently co-authored an article for the Society of Imaging Science and Technology entitled MapArt OpenSource Viewer: A Layered Solution for Viewing Scientific Imagery, with Chattanooga technology company, MapArt Systems.
Through speakers, exhibits and the Chattanooga Venture Forum, the Technology Transfer Conference provides opportunities for education, networking, buying and selling new technology products and pursuing capital. Participants also learn about services available through The Enterprise Center, including access to technology, research and assets for use in stimulating economic development and creating jobs. During the technology exhibition portion of the conference, inventions, newly-commercialized products and product development practices will be on display.
Business professionals, entrepreneurs, inventors, and venture capitalists are encouraged to attend. The 2013 Technology Transfer Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the Chattanooga Venture Forum following from 2 to 5 p.m. Open to the public, admission is $20 per person, with breakfast and lunch included.
