Webinar on new opportunity zones set for next Thursday
The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and the Tennessee Banker’s Association are hosting a 60-minute informational webinar on opportunity zones, a new community development tool established by Congress in the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.”
The program is set for 11 a.m. to 12 noon EDT/10 to 11 a.m. CDT on Thursday, August 16. To register, click here.
According to a recent announcement, Tennessee has 176 census tracts (click here) that have been qualified by the Secretary of the Treasury for the new federal tax benefit that is designed to drive long-term capital to low-income communities.
The webinar will include information on the opportunity zone legislation and Tennessee’s zone designation process. Details will be provided on how the incentive works, potential qualified opportunity fund models, examples, and how communities and businesses can leverage opportunity zones and strategically attract investments.
