
UTK only Tennessee recipient among 55 projects in 25 states winning DOE funding
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) was the only entity in Tennessee among 55 projects in 25 states to receive funding under a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program for which awards were announced this week.
The winning proposal from UTK is titled “SiC Based Modular Transformer-less MW-Scale Power Conditioning System and Control for Flexible Manufacturing Plants.” Total project cost is $4,477,107 with DOE support amounting to $3,581,545. This and the other winning projects are designed to address high-impact manufacturing technology, materials, and process challenges that strengthen domestic manufacturing competitiveness and position the U.S. for global leadership in advanced manufacturing.
Collectively, the awards totaled about $187 million in funding, including $48 million of cost share.
